Accessibility Statement

Nile & Palms is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 – level AA, and in compliance with the principles of the European Accessibility Act (EAA), in force since 28 June 2025. This statement applies to the Nile & Palms website.
Compliance status
The site is partially compliant with the requirements set out in Annex A to standard UNI EN 301549:2018 (WCAG 2.1) and the requirements under Annex A of Ministerial Decree 5 July 2005 (WCAG 2.0), due to the limitations listed below. Measures implemented for the most inclusive experience possible: clear and direct language, a responsive layout that's readable on every device, adequate visual contrast across the brand palette, keyboard navigation with focus always visible (never removed via CSS), a semantically consistent heading structure, respect for the system "reduce motion" preference (prefers-reduced-motion) across every animation on the site, and descriptive alt text for images. While also aiming to meet several AAA-level criteria, we officially declare compliance at level AA, in line with current regulations.
Non-accessible content
The "Defined by light, sound, and time" carousel, present on the Homepage and on some pages of the site, scrolls automatically on desktop devices without a dedicated manual pause control: visitors who have enabled the system's "reduce motion" preference see it stopped automatically, but for those who haven't, an explicit pause button isn't yet available. We're evaluating adding a dedicated control. Links to third-party services (Google Maps, Instagram, Facebook) lead to external content that follows the accessibility standards of its own provider, not directly controllable by Nile & Palms. Some secondary colour combinations in the brand palette are under review, to guarantee fully AA-compliant contrast in every context. We are working continuously to resolve these issues.
European Accessibility Act (EAA) compliance
The site is designed with the provisions of the European Accessibility Act in mind, in force since 28 June 2025, in particular to ensure interoperability with assistive technologies, simplified access to content and information, and accessibility for users with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. This statement will be updated as technical and regulatory developments occur.
